Welfare measures for Jagannath Temple priests

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced introduction of battery run cars to carry elderly and differently abled persons from parking space to Sri Jagannath Temple at Puri and also a series of welfare measures for the priests of the 12th century shrine. The students of Sevayat community will be provided scholarship ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 500 per month from class-I to Class-X. For students pursuing their technical education, a sum of Rs 25,000 will be given as scholarship. The BJD Government will also provide houses to landless and homestead less sevayats for which five acres of land have been identified. The housing project will provide houses at low cost to sevayats coming under the above category.
