The Odisha government today approved Rs 1600 crore plan for the overall development of Sambalpur city.
Naveen PatnaikA high level meeting, chaired by chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the state secretariat here, discussed in detail on the various aspects of overall development of Sambalpur city which included development of roads, drinking water supply, drainage system, flood control and recreation facilities, said an official release.
Plans have been prepared with assistance of the state’s Tourism department and for the development of Maa Samaleswari shrine while special emphasis has been laid on the development of basic infrastructure facilities like guesthouse, parking place etc.
For meeting the recreation needs of the city population, water parks, ropeways etc. will be developed, the release said.
Among other things on which emphasis has been laid in the plan are flyovers, outer ring road, expansion of drinking water facilities in Sambalpur and Burla, waste disposal management, ultra-modern bus terminus, fish market and development of several water bodies.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed officials of concerned departments for time bound completion of these projects.
The meeting was attended by Housing and Urban Development minister Puspendra Singhdeo, Sambalpur MLA Dr Raseswari Panigrahi and several senior officials of the concerned departments.
