The dream of many to have a house in the state capital may soon come true as the state government approved a proposal for construction of 1,300 low-cost houses under the Smart City Mission. The empowered committee on infrastructure (ECI) led by chief secretary A P Padhi allowed the smart city authorities to float tender to attract private players to develop the project as the affordable housing scheme in the public-private partnership (PPP) mode. "The low-cost houses would come up in Shantinagar," said state PPP cell head P K Jena.
