Odisha lives in its villages and farmers are its backbone. The BJD government has always prioritized the interests of the farmers and those engaged in farming activities, including the landless agricultural workers. Several innovative schemes have been initiated for our farmers and to increase farm productivity, which have resulted in agricultural production increase over the last 13 years. Besides, the state government presented a separate agricultural budget for the first time. Budget allocation for agriculture has increased from Rs. 2,000 crore to Rs. 7,000 crore now. In order to make financing available to our farmers, the state government is offering them agricultural loan at a nominal 2percent rate of interest. Our pledge is also for time-bound completion of all irrigation projects. Moreover, in-line with the commitment made during last elections, separate agricultural feeders, with an outlay of Rs. 1,000 crores, have been provided for regular power supply to the farmers of our state.
